Unfortunately, what I found was just a lot of bad information. A lot of bad information that is still out there today.
There is information on making hand poke devices that are completely unsanitary. If you are going to hand poke you will need to use disposable equipment or something that can be sterilized.
There are links to outdated videos. You watch these videos and learn techniques that aren’t used any more by tattoo artists.
Before you even begin to learn how to tattoo, I feel like the first thing an aspiring tattoo artist should learn is safety.
There is a lot of risk when you tattoo someone. There is potential to harm someone for the rest of their life. There is also the potential for you to catch a disease.
In any dangerous situation the first thing you should be taught is safety. Before buying a gun they teach you about safety. Before you drive they teach you about safety.
Tattooing is no different. Before you ever break someone’s skin with a needle you need to learn how to do it in a safe manner.
